{"id":157,"date":"2006-07-11T14:11:24","date_gmt":"2006-07-11T14:11:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/crankymonkeybutt.com\/wordpress\/?p=157"},"modified":"2025-04-05T09:49:34","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T14:49:34","slug":"today_i_am_here","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/crankymonkeybutt.com\/snip\/archives\/2006\/07\/today_i_am_here.html","title":{"rendered":"Today I am here to tell you that Matt the Electrician is HILARIOUS and AWESOME."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>He opened for Bob Schneider last night.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some examples of his awesomeness:<br \/>\n<UL TYPE=\"square\"><LI>He covered Jessie&#8217;s Girl by Rick Springfield, with a mid song monologue about his Hell&#8217;s Angel uncle basically beating him up for going to a Rick Springfield concert.<br \/>\n<LI>And how beaten up he would have gotten had he bought the only T-shirt they were selling at the concert, a pink tanktop!<br \/>\n<LI>He played a song about high school &#038; drinking (prefaced with &#8220;This is a true story&#8221;), that highlighted things such as Strawberry Hill Boone&#8217;s Farm and Colt 45.  I was only sad that he didn&#8217;t mention Mad Dog 20\/20!<br \/>\n<LI>He did several songs on a teeny tiny banjo!<\/UL><\/p>\n<p>Laugh out loud funny at times.  Serene and thoughtful at others.<\/p>\n<p>His blog and tour schedule and discography, etc., can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.matttheelectrician.com\/\">here<\/a>.  The blog is sometimes very minimal, but has its own moments of brilliance, such as this:<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><I>my dad got me this Kevin Smith book for christmas&#8230;&#8230;<br \/>\nand i just started reading it&#8230;&#8230;<br \/>\nit&#8217;s mostly diary-style, taking place during the pre-pre-production for Jay &#038; Silent Bob Strike Back&#8230;&#8230;<br \/>\nit&#8217;s got cool hollywood gossip&#8230;..<br \/>\nand it creates that feeling like you&#8217;re sitting there listening to him tell you the stories in person&#8230;.<br \/>\ni&#8217;ve always liked his movies&#8230;..<br \/>\nnever considered myself a fanatic&#8230;.<br \/>\nbut while reading this book&#8230;.<br \/>\ni get the feeling that we&#8217;re friends now&#8230;..<br \/>\nno, i don&#8217;t GET the feeling&#8230;..<br \/>\nit seems more intuitive than that&#8230;..<br \/>\ni wonder what me and Kevin are gonna do tomorrow?&#8230;.<\/I><\/div>\n<p>How funny is he?  I love him!  Go see him! Great show!<\/p>\n<p>p.s. yes, Bob Schneider was also FANTASTIC but y&#8217;all must know about him already&#8230;<br \/>\nand p.p.s. you can also buy Matt the Electrician albums on iTunes.  seriously.
