{"id":317,"date":"2007-02-16T11:03:50","date_gmt":"2007-02-16T11:03:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/crankymonkeybutt.com\/wordpress\/?p=317"},"modified":"2025-04-05T10:06:45","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T15:06:45","slug":"high_society_so","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/crankymonkeybutt.com\/snip\/archives\/2007\/02\/high_society_so.html","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;High Society&#8221; &#8230;SOUNDS LIKE&#8230; &#8220;I&#8217;m Not in Love&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thank goodness for <a href=\"http:\/\/carrieoke.net\/\">Carrie <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/passionknit.net\/\">Monica <\/a>as I was THIS CLOSE to getting really fucking crazy just now trying to figure this out.<\/p>\n<p>Listening to &#8220;High Society&#8221; by The Bees (U.S.) and the chorus starts with &#8220;Ooooo, high society&#8230;.&#8221; &#8220;Oooooo, notoriety&#8230;&#8221; and it &#8230;SOUNDS <em>JUST <\/em>LIKE&#8230; &#8220;Oooooo, you&#8217;ll wait a long time for me&#8230;.&#8221; from the song &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/ntl.matrix.com.br\/pfilho\/html\/lyrics\/i\/im_not_in_love.txt\">I&#8217;m Not in Love<\/a>&#8221; which was apparently a hit in the &#8217;70s for some group called 10 CC (?) and covered in the 90s by Will Power (?).<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t know which one it is that I know, but that song was playing clear as a bell in my head, yet a) I couldn&#8217;t figure out what song it was and b) I was singing the words wrong (I was singing &#8220;<em>oooo, been a long time for me<\/em>&#8220;).  But then I called Carrie and she said &#8220;I don&#8217;t know what it is but here&#8217;s more of it&#8221; and started singing &#8220;<em>I&#8217;m not in love, so don&#8217;t forget it<\/em>&#8230;&#8221;  then we conferenced in Monica and two seconds later, she was playing it for us!  Woot!<\/p>\n<p>My friends kick ass.
