The best movie <\/a>I saw in August was also the only movie I saw in August (pathetic!): Stardust<\/strong><\/a>. Lucky for me, I quite enjoyed it.<\/p>\n

The best book <\/a>I read in August was a tie between “Run” by Ann Patchett <\/strong><\/a>and “Seven Types of Ambiguity” by Elliot Perlman<\/strong><\/a>. The former is relatively short, concise, but emotionally overwhelming, family drama. The latter is long, meandering, stream of conscious from various narrators, personal relationship drama. Both were highly enjoyable.<\/p>\n

The best concert <\/a>I went to in August was a three-way tie: the Lollapalooza performances by The Polyphonic Spree<\/strong><\/a>, Lupe Fiasco <\/strong><\/a>and Ben Harper<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

My favorite tunes <\/a>in August were: Matt Nathanson<\/strong>!!! both his new album “Some Mad Hope<\/strong>” and his live album “At the Point<\/strong>” are totally awesome. Awesome!!; Okkervil River “The Stage Names”<\/strong>; and Earlimart “Mentor Tormentor” (hypnotic! entrancing!)<\/strong><\/a>. And I’m still listening to the stuff I bought in Belgium en fran\u00e7ais…right now I really like David Hallyday<\/strong>, MC Solaar’s “Chapitre 7”<\/strong> and Kaolin’s “M\u00e9langer Les Couleurs”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Random personal highlights:<\/em> Lollapalooza! Trip to Belgium! Plus some quiet days with the Fam up in MN.<\/p>\n

Lowlights? <\/em> Tired out. Two weeks off really throws you for a loop when you return to normal. Need a vacation to recover from my vacation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
