Big Screen: Hurt Locker

F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C.

Best movie you will see all year. Now get your butts out there to see it so it makes enough money to get wider distribution and maybe, just maybe, be shown in the teeny town theater near my pops who really, really wants to see it.

It was one of the best war movies I’ve EVER seen. And I have seen a LOT of war movies.

To Dos.

Oh SNAP I just got called out for being WAY BEHIND on posting reviews. I know, I know. I’ve got 12 books, 9 movies, 3 shows, and 2 monthly album reviews just to catch up to TODAY. WHATTUP lazy girl. I KNOW.

Sorry, GD, I’m just super fucking stressed out right now and posting to my blog is about 18 numbers down on the actual to-do list with #1 being “lie on floor and try to feel better about crazy life decisions you clearly made while durnk”. Sigh. I’ll get to ’em soon. Or I’ll try. Pinkie swear.

(And I’ll try to write back. Soon. When I’m at home and can type with more than one finger.)

Favorite Song of Yet Another Horrible Monday Morning

Never took the chance, could have jumped the fence
I was scared of my own two feet.
Could have crossed the line, it was black and white
No contrast to be seen.
What would you do? What would you do?
Do you know?
Was it all a joke? Never had control.
I’m not better on my own.

“I’m Not Over” Carolina Liar

-From another old playlist “Flurry of Fall Favorites 2008”. I am really getting some leverage out of old playlists these days.

À la Super Eggplant, currently, I am…

Eating: Mostly drinking. Black Cherry Soda. Yummers.

Making: Gaaah, have fallen off the wagon on all craft projects but will hopefully finish up an overdue baby quilt this weekend. Send me some motivation, puh-lease.

Reading: Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray. Ah, yes, the BIG ‘UN of our challenge books this year. It’s actually going pretty fast when I actually read it…but have been doing a lot of El train crossword-ing so I haven’t quite devoted myself to it yet. But I like it more than I expected to!

Watching: Finally finished Band of HottiesBrothers. Sigh. So Good. Warehouse 13 just started; I liked the first one! At least enough to keep watching.

Listening to: Pete Yorn “Back and Fourth”. Empy Orchestra “Here Lies Empty Orchestra”. Fuel/Friends latest mix. Eminem.

Failing at: Not freaking out.

Meera on Metamorphosis.

I am not like the ferns. I have spent my thirty years on changes and modifications, constantly refashioning my own shapes, mechanisms, and systems in the hope that there is, after all, a better answer. I have been shy as often as I have been bold; I have worn the crown of ambition as often as the mask of nonchalance; I have copied friends and enemies, believing their shapes an improvement over my own. I have been myself a dozen different ways, and still never found the right one. I am trying out a new incarnation right now, in fact—fingers crossed that this time I know what I’m doing—if only you could see me shift.

Songs I Forgot About But Am Loving * This Morning

*The Shit Out Of

In the order in which they appear on “Mariko Made Me, Spring ’07” one of my favorite playlists. If I love you, you might already have a copy of it. If not, it can’t hurt to ask. (And by ask I mean beg, steal or borrow. Or offer something in trade.)
