The Couch Potato Life Continues.

I am always reluctant to post to the TV blog as it seems no one else posts lately so every post on a show will be by me (how boring), so then I wait a while to see if anyone else wants to post on it, and then by the time it’s clear that no one else is going to, it’s been so many days past the episode that it seems silly to bother. So lately I’m just posting on shows no one else watches anyway, so it’s not like I’m stepping on anyone’s toes. But then again, since no one else watches them, why am I posting as none of them will be interested in reading it?

Ah well.

Here’s where I posted this week on The Closer, Friday Night Lights, and The OC.

The Season So Far, IMHO.

Double/cross posted to the TV blog as well….

Favorites
Friday Night Lights. Love the stories, love the acting. And football is really just the backdrop. Completely obsessed with this show. Am completely torn between marrying Matt Saracen and just having a drunken crazy sex fling with Tim Riggins.
Grey’s Anatomy. Has not missed a beat. Every episode gives me something to hang on to. Bailey is rocking out even moreso this year. Carolyn is happy.
Standoff. “VM for adults.” Haven’t erased a single one off the DVR. Like the filler characters a lot as well.
Bones. A forensic procedural with more humor, more chemistry, and more goofy than the others. “CSI for happ(ier) people.”

Ruminating while rewatching Season 1 of Grey’s.

MEREDITH: Where were you when the ‘Challenger’ exploded?
INTERN #1: The what?
MEREDITH: The space shuttle. ‘Challenger.’
INTERN #1: Uh. I think I was in kindergarten.
MEREDITH: Exactly. No.

For years and years and years, my Dad and I had this ongoing conversation about how so far (at the time) my life didn’t have any of those big “where were you when…” moments. He had so many. JFK’s assassination. MLK’s assassination. Significant moments of Vietnam, in Space, etc.
And the Challenger? Not one of mine.

I remember where I was:

  • When JFK Jr.’s plane went missing.
  • When the second plane hit the World Trade Center/when they fell.

I think that’s it. For now. I don’t count “knowing where I was when Bush was re-elected” because although that will be much more damaging to my life in the long run, I prefer not to remember it.

Another favorite conversation:
MEREDITH: What’s your favorite 80s group?
INTERN #1: ‘Queen’.
MEREDITH: No.
INTERN #2: Twisted Sister.
MEREDITH: Uh!
INTERN #2: It’s not like there’s a right or wrong answer to that question.
MEREDITH (to herself): Oh yeah, ‘the GoGos’, ‘Duran Duran’, ‘The Eurthymics’ …

Fall TV Planning.

Cannot believe Fall TV is just around the corner, with most premieres starting wk of the 18th. What will I be watching? Still torn between a few, but here’s my provisional plan. Yes, technically I can record two shows at once, but then when will I watch the recordings? There is only so much time in each week, not sure how many shows I want to commit to this year. As you know, once I start watching them, there’s no turning back!!!
(all times are central)

8 Heroes?
9 Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Definitely watching this, loved the premiere which was up on YouTube.
